ET Desk: Bangladesh Bank, Sylhet Office Director Md. Aminul Islam has been promoted to the post of Executive Director. He was promoted and attached to the head office in an order issued on Sunday, August 10.

Md. Aminul Islam joined Bangladesh Bank as an officer in 1993. He was promoted to the post of Director in 2022. He has served efficiently in various branches, divisions and Mymensingh office of Bangladesh Bank.

In addition to banking activities, he is involved with various organizations and institutions.

He served as the president of Bangladesh Bank Club, Mymensingh, member secretary of Bangladesh Bank School, Sylhet, and president and secretary of Bangladesh Bank Nibas Mosque Committee.

Md. Aminul Islam was born on January 1, 1967, in Kalapur village, Chunarughat upazila, Habiganj district, Sylhet division, into a respectable Muslim family.

He passed his SSC from Dinanath Institution Satkapon, Bahubali in 1982, his HSC from Madan Mohan College, Sylhet in 1984, and his BSS (Hons) from MC College, Sylhet in 1987 and his MSS (Economics) from Chittagong University in 1988.

Later, he earned a professional degree, DAIBB.

Md. Aminul Islam was the past president of the Rotary Club of Sylhet City and the assistant governor of Rotary District-3282 (2023-24). He is serving as the president of the Sylhet Literary Center and the Khowai Literary and Cultural Council.

Apart from his job, he is also involved in writing. He has published two books of poetry titled “Prasantir Acchadon” and “Shravane Basanter Akash”.

In family life, Aminul Islam is the father of two sons and a daughter. His two sons are studying at Sylhet Metropolitan University and his daughter is studying at Jahangirnagar University. His wife, Mrs. Dilara Hasan, is a housewife. He has visited Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
