ET Desk: Addressing Hindus, Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry, Nasimul Gani said, “Elections are coming up. Without listening to anyone’s words, you will go to the polling station in a festive mood wearing branches and vermilion. This is our expectation that you will exercise your right to vote.”
He said, “Remember, your fathers and grandfathers were born in this country. Your children were also born in this country. We all live together in this country.”
The Home Secretary made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the Krishna Janmashtami program organized by the District Puja Udjavan Parishad at the Munshi Meherullah Maidan in Jessore on Saturday (August 16) afternoon.
Bangladesh is a secular state, where people of all religions live together in harmony. Nasimul Ghani said that strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to destroy this harmony. He said, “The main thing of all religions is peace.”
People of all religions live peacefully in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is one of the most secular countries in the world.
The history of communal harmony in this state goes back to the ages. For ages, people of Islam and all other religions have been living together in this country. But a group has planned a conspiracy to destroy that peace and coexistence. We have seen the history of this in the last 17 years but if any such attempt is made in the currently changing Bangladesh, the government is determined to prevent it, along with the people.
