Sylhet Correspondent:Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council member, Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan (North) and Jamaat-e-Islami’s nominated MP candidate from Sylhet-6 (Golapganj-Bianibazar) constituency Mohammad Selim Uddin said, No election will be allowed without the implementation of the July Revolution Charter and PR. The behavior of some parties after the fascists fled in the July uprising is suspicious. They have been playing tricks on the people.
The people of the country understand everything, they cannot be fooled and crossed the electoral threshold. People who are extortionists and tenderists will not vote in the next election.
He made the above remarks as the chief guest at a rally before the protest march organized by Golapganj Upazila and Municipal Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday Sep 26.
Mohammad Selim Uddin said, the young student community has already shown in DUCSU and JACSU that they now want an alternative. The government will be formed under the leadership of Jamaat after getting a majority vote in the next national parliamentary election, fulfilling the people’s demands.
The PR system is necessary to eliminate bribery and corruption and strengthen people’s governance.
He told the Chief Election Commissioner, “You should not speak in the language of political parties. It is possible to introduce the PR system in the constitution by amending the RPO, keeping in mind the hopes and aspirations of the people. The people are united in favor of label playing and introducing the PR system in the next election.”
The meeting held at the Chowmuhani of the municipal town of Golapganj Upazila was presided over by the acting Ameer of Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami, Jinnur Ahmed Chowdhury.
The special guests were Hafiz Nazmul Islam, member of the Shura and Working Committee of Sylhet District Jamaat-e-Islami and former chairman of Golapganj Upazila Parishad, and Lecturer Rehan Uddin Raihan, acting Ameer of Municipal Jamaat-e-Islami, moderated by Secretary Habibullah Dastagir.
Municipal Jamaat Secretary Kazi Shahidur Rahman, Upazila Assistant Secretary Ehteshamul Alam Zakaria, Municipal Assistant Secretary Selim Ahmed and Upazila Workers Welfare Federation President Ashfaq Al Mannan Lipu spoke.
After the rally, a huge protest march was taken out in the city under the leadership of Mohammad Selim Uddin.
