Staff Correspondent: Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Haakon Arald Gulbrandsen paid a courtesy call on Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman (Wednesday, October 15).
The meeting was held at the office of the Ameer-e-Jamaat in Bashundhara, the capital Dhaka. The ambassador’s political advisor Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury was present at the meeting.
The meeting was held in a very cordial and cordial atmosphere. At the beginning of the discussion, the Ambassador inquired about the health of the Ameer-e-Jamaat and wished him a speedy and full recovery.
The meeting referred to the upcoming national elections in Bangladesh as an important milestone in the progress of democracy. Norway’s overall cooperation and technical assistance were sought to ensure that the elections were held in a free, fair and acceptable manner.
In addition, constructive discussions were held on establishing sustainable democracy in Bangladesh and ensuring the independence and effective role of democratic institutions.
Both sides expressed hope that bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Norway will be further expanded and strengthened in the future.
On behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, the organization’s Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahbub Zubair, central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain and Foreign Affairs Advisor to Ameer-e-Jamaat Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were present along with the Ameer-e-Jamaat.
