ET Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman 26 april, Sunday informed the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the fuel oil rationing for police and other emergency services has already been withdrawn.
“We have already addressed the issue raised by a member of the parliament. For the emergency forces, including police, ambulances or fire brigades, the embargo has already been removed,” he said.
The Leader of the House said this responding to a point of order raised by treasury bench lawmaker from Cumilla-6 constituency Manirul Haque Chowdhury, saying that police administration has reduced patrols during nights on the excuse of fuel rationing, resulting in an increase in criminal activities and disruption of public safety.
“We made the decision two days ago and also cleared it two days ago,” the Prime Minister said, expressing hope that there would be no further problem in this regard.

Tarique Rahman, also ruling BNP chairman, took the floor as Manirul urged the government to immediately withdraw the fuel oil rationing system for law enforcement agencies.
Manirul said that a young customs officer was recently killed in Cumilla and when he asked police about maintaining law and order, they informed him that night patrol operations were hampered due to fuel shortages
