Jamaat Secretary expresses deep concern over killing of Bangladeshi at border

ET Desk: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar issued a statement on May 9 expressing deep concern, strong condemnation and protest over the unjust killing of two Bangladeshis by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Kasba border in Brahmanbaria.

In a statement, he said, “On the night of Friday, May 8, HSC second year student Md. Mursalin of Batenbari village, Dhajanagar, Gopinathpur union, Kasba upazila, Brahmanbaria district, and Nabir Hossain of Madhupur village of the same union were shot dead by Indian security forces.

I express deep concern and strongly condemn and protest against this killing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

I pray for the souls of the deceased to rest in peace. I express my deepest condolences to their bereaved families and relatives and pray that Almighty Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, may grant them the strength to bear this difficult loss.

He further said, “We are observing with deep concern that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) often commits unprovoked killings on the Bangladesh border. Despite repeated promises by India to bring the killings on the India-Bangladesh border to zero, the killings are continuously increasing. The lack of justice for the unjust killings of Bangladeshis on the India-Bangladesh border is very worrying. India is repeatedly committing killings on the Bangladesh border because of the weak foreign policy of the Bangladesh government.”

He said, “The people of Bangladesh always desire friendly treatment from their neighbors. We hope that the Indian government will stop the unwanted killings on the India-Bangladesh border and will conduct a fair and impartial investigation into all the killings that have taken place on the India-Bangladesh border till date, including those of Md. Mursalin and Nabi Hossain, and take legal action against the culprits.” At the same time, I urge the Bangladesh government to take necessary steps in this regard.”
