Staff Correspondent:Farida Khanam the former Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram and current Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka has secured the top spot among Deputy Commissioners nationwide for the highest Zakat collection in the 2024–25 fiscal year. This information was disclosed in a recent notification issued by the Zakat Fund Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
It has been reported that the Chattogram district administration undertook several initiatives to make the government Zakat management system effective and transparent. These included awareness campaigns, coordination meetings, and programs to encourage Zakat contributions. As a result of these activities, participation in the Zakat fund increased, and the total amount collected also rose.
Farida Khanam said, “Zakat funds can play an important role in strengthening the government’s social security programs. If this money is properly managed and reaches the real beneficiaries, positive changes in society are possible.” She added, “This recognition will inspire us to work more responsibly in the future. We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities with dedication in public welfare programs.”
