DWSS to observe Dr. Wazed’s 14th death anniversary tomorrow

Dr. Wazed Smriti Sangshad (DWSS) has taken programs to observe the 14th death anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband and noted nuclear scientist Dr. M A Wazed Miah (Sudha Miah) here tomorrow.

The programs were finalized at a meeting held at the temporary office of the organization at Rangpur Press Club Complex last night, a press release said today.

The programs will be arranged at Dr. Wazed’s birthplace Laldighee Fatehpur village in Pirganj upazila and Rangpur city.

President of DWSS and heroic freedom fighter Professor Dr. Md. Hamidul Haque Khondker presided over the meeting moderated by its General Secretary and senior journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir.

Executive committee members of DWSS Advocate Feroz Chowdhury Gunjan, Farukuzzaman Elahi Faruk, Advocate Sajjad-ur-Rahman Sanju, Tanbeer Ashrafi, Ali Jahur Mantu, Tahmina Shirin Nipa, Shafiqul Islam, Md. Belal Hossain, Md. Zinnat Hossain Lavlu, Utpal Bhowmick, Alhaj Mossarraf Hossain Moni, Dulal Bhowmick and Masud Raihan Lam addressed the meeting.

The programs include placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr. Wazed in village Laldighee Fatehpur at 9 am tomorrow followed by offering Fateha and special munajats there.

Milad and Dua mehfils followed by offering special munajats will be arranged at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque and Court Jam-e-Mosque in Rangpur city after Asr prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Dr. Wazed.

“A memorial discussion on the life and works of Dr. Wazed will be arranged at the temporary office of DWSS at 7 pm with its President Professor Dr. Hamidul Haque Khondker in the chair,” the release added.

The nuclear scientist with international repute was born on February 16, 1942 in a respectable Muslim family of village Laldighee Fatehpur in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.

He died on May 9, 2009.

He was laid to eternal rest with full state honour at his family graveyard in his paternal village Laldighee Fatehpur.
