TCB starts selling essentials including rice from tomorrow

State-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling of essential items, including rice for the first time, from tomorrow at subsidized rates as part of its operation for the month of July this year.

The TCB will sell five kgs of rice at Taka 30 per kg, two liters of soybean oil at Taka 100 per liter, one kg sugar at Taka 70 per kg and two kgs of lentil at Taka 60 per kg among one-crore family card holders across the country, said a TCB press release.

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder and Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the sale tomorrow morning at the TCB sales ground behind the ‘Polwel Convention Shopping Centre’ in city’s Abdullahpur, the release said.

Starting from tomorrow (Sunday), the sale will continue throughout the month.

In a press meet on June 13 this year, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that, “Each family card holder would get five kilograms of rice in addition to the other essential items from the month of July.”

With the help of City Corporations and District and Upazila administrations, the TCB will hold sale campaigns in specified date, time at their fixed selling points and shops.
