Rajshahi University Research Society(RURS) is set to host the “RURS First International Student Conference and Research Fair-2024” for the first time. The two-day conference will take place on February 22 and 23. The details were shared at a press conference organized by the RURS on Thursday (February 20).

According to the Written script, the theme of the conference is “Research for Achieving Sustainable Development.” More than 500 researchers and nearly 1,000 students, faculty members, and academics will participate in the event. A total of 573 research abstracts have been submitted from various universities across the country and abroad. After a thorough review by 86 faculty members, 334 abstracts were selected for the final stage. Among them, 202 presenting authors, along with a total of 407 researchers, have successfully registered for the event.

Distinguished guests at the conference will include Dr. M. Aminul Islam, Special Assistant to the Education Advisor; RU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Nakib; Dr. Abdullah Al-Mamun, Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Wollongong; Professor Dr. Gausia W. Chowdhury from the Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka; BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar; Varendra University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Khademul Islam Molla; RU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Farid Uddin Khan; RU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Main Uddin; Harvard University Postdoctoral Fellow Morve Roshan K; Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Khondoker Azim Ahmed; Professor Dr. Muhammad Manjurul Karim from the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka; and Professor Md. Haider Ali Biswas from the Discipline of Mathematics, Science Engineering and Technology School, QUT.

However, More than 800 registered attendees are expected to participate in the event, supported by 150 volunteers. The conference will host representatives from 24 university research societies, including 10 research societies from different universities and 9 faculties, four institutes, and an international research organization from Rajshahi University. Additionally, there will be an exhibition featuring direct stalls from various higher education and research organizations, offering participants a unique opportunity to learn about different research aspects in just two minutes.

The conference will feature two types of presentations: oral presentations and poster presentations. After the presentations, the research papers will be documented in the RURS Book of Abstracts. Moreover, there will be opportunities for selected papers to be published through the indexing partners associated with the event.
