RUAC Short Story Writing Competition on Mother Language Day

RU Correspondent: Rajshahi University Agricultural Club (RUAC) has organized the “Short Story Writing Competition 2024” to commemorate the martyrs of the language movement today.

The competition was held on Wednesday at 11 am in the central Shaheed Minar premises of the university. Around a hundred students from different departments of the university participated in the competition.

In this event, Rajshahi University Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha was co-hosted and Bishwa Sahitya Kendra sponsored the award.

Rajshahi University Agricultural Club President Md. Zakir Hossain said, “We have organized the competition to inform young students about the correct history of language movement and to increase their creativity. Spontaneous participation made our mission successful. We are very happy to have Rajshahi University Bandhu Sabha as a co-host for this event. I am grateful to them. Also, I look forward to doing better work together in the future.”

President Bandhu Sabha Tuhinuzzaman said, “The Bengali nation has established itself in the court of the world as the only nation in the world that gave its life for language. We have to protect the freedom of this language. It is our responsibility and duty to preserve and nurture this language. I believe that this organization of RU Bandhu Sabha and Rajshahi University Agricultural Club will contribute to the development of students’ minds, creativity, and interest in Bengali literary practice and will increase the interest in the country and mother tongue among the young students.”

RUAC members laid wreaths at the beginning of the day as a symbol of respect to the Prabhat Feri and Bhasha Shaheeds. Professor Dr. Jalal Uddin Sardar of the Veterinary and Animal Sciences department was present, and RUAC Board Member Zafar Raihan, and members of the Voluntary and Working Committee of Rajshahi University Agricultural Club.

Also present at the event was the former vice-chancellor of Barisal University and advisor of Rajshahi University Bandhu Sabha, Md. Sadekul Arefin Mateen, Publicity and Promotion Secretary of Rajshahi University branch of Biswa Sahitya Center and writer Hossain Iqbal, Shafiqul Islam, Organizing Secretary of Rajshahi University Bandhu Sabha and others.

in addition, Such arrangements will increase interest in the country and language among young students. It will serve as an immense potential to reduce the tendency towards bad culture. The ceremony ended with this expectation expressed.
