RU Correspondent: A mugger was handed over to the police with gang washing at Rajshahi University(RU). The mugger was caught by the students while stealing the mobile phone of a female student who came to the university for the first-year admission examination, today at noon.
At one stage of gang-washing, when the mugger returned the mobile phone, students handed it over to the victim’s woman.
Poornima Adhikari is the victim student in this incident. He came to Rajshahi University from Kumarkhali in Kushtia to take the first year ‘C’ unit admission test.
On the other hand, the accused mugger is Anik (22). He identified himself during initial interrogation as the son of Suman of the Talaimari area of the city. He said that there was another mugger named Rabin with him.
A 2017-18 academic year student of the university’s chemistry department, who did not want to be named, said, “I saw a girl running behind a man shouting that he was a mugger in the Sheikh Russell field. At that time I was going towards Kajla Gate of the University. Then I arrested the mugger. At that time, I had many admission candidates with me, and they also helped me in this matter. After catching up we realized they were two, but we could not catch another person.
He also said the mugger left the phone in a car. According to his information, we took out the phone from the car and handed it over to the victim’s student. Later we reported the matter to the police the university proctor and the student advisor. After that, we handed over the mugger to the police.
When asked, the proctor of the university, Professor Asabul Haque, said, “As we are busy with the admission test, we have directly handed over the mugger to the police.” Police are looking into the matter.
