Islamic University reforms sexual harassment prevention cell

Rabiul Alam, IU: Islamic University (IU) authority reformed the Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee to provide a neutral, confidential and supportive environment for the victims of this crime.

It will overlook complaints filed against anyone for sexual harassment and sexual oppression at all levels by implementing the directives of the high court division regarding prevention of sexual harassment.

On Friday, IU authority issued a press release signed by acting registrar HM Ali Hasan in this regard, The cell consists of 10 members with Convenor Professor Dr. Yeasmin Akhter Shati, Department of Bangla, and Member Secretary and University’s Treasurer Prof. Dr. Alamgir Hossain Bhuyan.

The 10-member committee also includes Prof. Dr. Aminul Islam, Al Quran and Islamic studies, Prof. Dr. Salma Sultana, Department of English, Prof. Dr. Halima Khatun, Department of Law, Proctor Prof. Dr. Shahadat Hossain Azad, Student advisor Prof. Dr. Baki Billah, Associate Prof. Jayashree Sen, Computer Science and Engineering Department, Mumtaz Ara Begum, Executive Director of Kushtia Mukti Women and Child Development Organization and Rafiqul Islam, Director of Prabhati Palli Development Organization of Kushtia.

Convenor Sathi expressed, I always try to be supportive to Students. If anyone suffers from sexual assault, we are vowed to stand by them. We will take charge of the office after Eid vacation.
