A delegation from China’s Honghe University is visiting RU to cooperate with Rajshahi University (RU) in the field of education and research today.

Professor Yangsengchao, president of Honghe University, is leading the 7-member delegation. On the first day of the visit, they were with RU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Golam Sabbir Sattar and Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Md. Sultan-ul-Islam, Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof. Humayun Kabir came to terms.

During this time, they discussed with RU about establishing a framework for cooperation in science and technology, agriculture, fine arts, and other related matters and establishing a Confucius Institute. The treasurer of the university, faculty head, and senior officials also participated in the discussion.

Later the delegation visited the Institute of Biological Sciences, Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture and Fine Arts, and Barendra Research Museum. In the afternoon the delegation also visited the music department.

The delegation paid tribute to the martyrs by placing wreaths at the RU Shaheed Minar and Badhyabhoomi memorial.

On Monday, the second day of the tour, the delegation will visit the Martyrs’ Memorial Museum, apart from a possible site visit to the Confucius Institute.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Golam Sabbir Sattar expressed hope that the visit will have an important impact on RU’s cooperation in education and research with China.
