National Debating Competition-2024 was held after 13 years under the initiative of Noakhali Science and Technology University Debating Society. The competition ended today (June 1).
In this competition organized for the 3rd time, Debaters of Chittagong University became the champion and Ahsanullah Science and Technology University Debating Club became the runner-up.
The final and closing phase of the competition was held on June 1 at Haji Idris Auditorium of the University. Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury (MP) was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
In the speech of the chief guest, Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury (M.P.) applauded Nstu Debating Society for organizing the National Debating Competition. He said, through debate, students get an opportunity to research and gain knowledge on various subjects. As a result, students get an opportunity to improve their skills and apply the knowledge gained at the workplace. Stating that only formal education is not enough to build a career, the Minister of Education urged students to be involved in creative activities.
Nstu Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. was the main sponsor of the program. Didar-ul-Alam. Also special guest was Nstu Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Baki, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Newaz Mohammad Bahadur and Mayor of Noakhali Municipality Md. Sahid Ullah Khan.
In addition, Nstu Registrar Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Proctor Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman, teachers of various departments of the university, Nstu Debating Society advisors, committee members and alumni of Nstu Debating Society were also present in this event.
The guests present in their speech applauded Nobiprobi Debating Society for taking the initiative of talent development of the students of different universities of the country by organizing this national debate competition. The invited guests expressed hope to continue this kind of event in the future.
It is to be noted that this competition has been organized with the slogan ‘Remove the taint of thoughts from the brain’. The debate was held in 6 rounds with the participation of 96 debaters from 32 universities. 30 judges and more than 200 organizing committees were involved in the management of the debate.
