General students of Rajshahi University (RU) formed a human chain demanding the announcement of the draft voter list, full election schedule of RUCSU, and 100% residential facilities.

The program was held on Sunday (May 18) at 2 PM on the university’s Paris Road.

Speaking at the human chain, Mehedi Hasan Sojib, former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, questioned the effectiveness of the RUCSU Election Commission. He said that although the scheduled time had passed, the code of conduct and draft voter list had not yet been published. He demanded that the RAKSU election be held in accordance with the announced roadmap.

He also said that even after 72 years of establishment, Rajshahi University has not been able to overcome its residential crisis. Only 30-35% of students receive residential facilities, while the rest should be provided with residential allowances.

The human chain was conducted by Nurul Islam Shahid, former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Other speakers included Akil Bin Taleb, Fahim Reza, Anik Mahmud, Tazul Islam from the Department of Islamic Studies, and Abu Zobayer from the Department of Botany. Around fifty students were present at the event.
