Deputy Leader of Jatiya Sangsad Begum Matia Chowdhury said that due to the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, overall employment in the country has doubled to 7.11 crore in the last 15 years.
He said, ‘The country’s overall employment generation has reached 7.11 crore in the last fifteen years and it is almost double compared to the fiscal year 2007-08. Then the employment was 4.73 crores.
Participating in the general discussion on the national budget for the financial year 2023-24 in the National Parliament today, the Deputy Leader of the Parliament said that even the size of the GDP has increased four times compared to 2007-08.
On June 1, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal proposed a national budget of Tk 7,61,785 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24.
Referring to the budget as challenging, Matia Chowdhury said that although the world economy is under pressure due to the war, the finance minister has presented the proposed budget under the title ‘Smart Bangladesh’s progress after a decade and a half of development journey’. It also aims to combat economic slowdown and high inflation.
Criticizing the role of BNP, he said, BNP has no respect for democracy, so they do not want to participate in elections. He said that the BNP and its alliance have employed lobbyists abroad as part of a conspiracy to seize power in an unconstitutional manner. Only the people of the country and those who participate in the democratic movement have the sole right to take power because the people will not accept taking power by unconstitutional means.
