RU Representative: Rajshahi University has been ranked for the first time by the UK-based education and research organization, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The information is known from the list published by the organization recently.

It’s reported that QS has been ranked out of 100 in 9 indicators in 2024. These indicators include academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, faculty paper citations, international faculty ratio, international-student ratio, international research network, employability, and tenure. The United States’ Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is the first with a score of 100, while the UK’s Cambridge University and Oxford University are in the second and third positions. Among the more than 150 public and private universities of the country, 15 universities have been placed in this list. Globally their position is between 691-1500. It ranks Rajshahi University 13th in the country and among 1500 globally. However, Dhaka University is at the top of this list, its global ranking is between 691-700.

In this regard, University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sultan-ul-Islam said that, work on ranking has started in the university recently. Due to lack of time, it was not possible to provide the necessary information to the organizations this year. As a result, this university is lagging behind. But the situation will improve in the future. Moreover, embassies are in contact to increase international students and a 50-year master plan for education and research has been prepared. If this goal is implemented, he believes that this university will be at the top of the country’s ranking.

It is to be noted that Rajshahi University has been ranked second in the recently published Webmetrics ranking and first in the Times Higher Education ranking. This university is also in the global ranking between 1000-1500.
