RU Correspondent: Students held sit-in at in fornt of the Rajshahi University (RU) administration building over three demands, including cancellation of pet quota. They started the program at 10 am on Thursday (January 3) as previously announced.
The other two demands are to bring fascist teachers-students and officials-employees to justice and to show cause to the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar in an open place for appointing two fascist teachers as assistant proctors.
However, various slogans including ‘Against ward quota, fight together’, ‘No compromise, struggle, struggle’, ‘On brokers’ mattresses, light a fire together’, ‘Crying of the intelligentsia, no more’, ‘Burn it with fire, burn it’, ‘Abu Saeed-Mugh, the war is not over’ were raised.
Salahuddin Ammar, one of the coordinators of the RU students movement against discrimination, said in the sit-in program, “ward quota means giving opportunities to the unworthy. It is harmful to the nation. Even then, if you want to keep the pet quota, you have to keep the ward quota for the children of all the poor people in the country.”
An employee said they are with the administration. They will accept whatever decision administration make.
More than a hundred students from different departments of the university are present in the program.
