INSAN ALI RU: Rajshahi University’s cultural landscape sparkled with warmth and festivity as Campus Boulianna organized a two-day enchanting Pitha Festival and cultural program. The lively event unfolded adjacent to the Shahid Sukhranjan Samadar Teachers and Students Cultural Center (TSCC) on a Thursday, casting a vibrant aura over the university grounds.
The festival, a celebration of culture and tradition, featured 45 stalls with intriguing names such as Shilpa Bari, Shashurbari Puli Asar, Pitha Mahal, Chandrapuli, and Bihan Kunj. These stalls offered a delightful array of traditional winter treats, including Kheer Puli, Dudh Puli, Patisapta, Tal Pitha, Pudding, and various other types of Pitha.
As the afternoon unfolded, the festival grounds came alive with captivating performances from various university clubs, with the University’s music group Udichi taking center stage. The air was filled with melodies, echoing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
On the first evening, the Vice-Chancellor graced the program, adding to the luminosity by lighting the ceremonial lamp. “Campus Boulianna has become a beacon in the cultural arena of our Rajshahi University,” remarked Vice-Chancellor Golam Sabbir Sattar. “This festival is a part of our Bangalipana, connecting students to our cherished traditions.”
The Pitha Festival, a cultural extravaganza, not only tantalized taste buds with its diverse offerings but also provided a platform for various clubs to showcase their talents. Students, faculty, and visitors alike were treated to a sensory feast of flavors, sounds, and visual delights.
A festival representative, Abidulla, shared that a total of around 15,000 students engaged in the event, making it a massive success. He expressed, “This year’s event is more enjoyable than ever before, and the increased participation is a testament to the growing enthusiasm and appreciation for our cultural heritage.”
Rokeya Amin Shumi, a student of Rajshahi University, reflected on the concert, saying, “When the concert started, all the birds are gone fly from the place.” Her poetic observation encapsulates the magical atmosphere that enveloped the festival, where the music seemed to create a spellbinding connection with nature.
In addition to Udichi, the festival featured stellar performances by popular artists. Perfume, a rising star in the music scene, took the stage, captivating the audience with their soulful tunes. Arnab Band also delivered a dynamic performance, infusing the festival with an energetic musical vibe. The drama club Sawnon added a theatrical touch, staging compelling performances that held the audience in rapt attention.
One of the highlights of the festival was the Pitha Mahal, where skilled artisans showcased their culinary expertise, crafting intricate and delicious Pithas. Each stall had its own unique charm, drawing visitors into a world of tradition and celebration.
The presence of the University’s music group, Udichi, Perfume, Arnab Band, and the drama club Sawnon added a melodic and theatrical touch to the festival, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. The festival not only celebrated the richness of Bangladeshi culture but also aimed to instill a sense of attachment to tradition among the students. Vice-Chancellor Golam Sabbir Sattar expressed hope that students would embrace and carry forward these cultural traditions, making them an integral part of their university experience.
As the festival concluded, it left behind memories of laughter, music, theatrical performances, and the delightful aroma of Pithas. Campus Boulianna’s Winter Festival not only illuminated Rajshahi University but also created a tapestry of cultural vibrancy that resonated in the hearts of all who attended.
