RU Correspondent: Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day are being observed in Rajshahi University (RU) with due dignity in memory of the martyrs of the language movement today.
The first watch of the day was at 12:01 PM by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Golam Sabbir Sattar, Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Md. Sultan-ul-Islam, Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof. Humayun Kabir, Treasurer Prof. Prof. Abayadur Rahman, Registrar and Registrar. Senior administration officials including Tariqul Hasan laid wreaths at University Shaheed Minar and observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs. Faculty Heads, Hall Principals, Institute Directors, Departmental Presidents, Proctors, Student Advisors, Public Relations Administrators, etc. were present.
After that, various institutions and organizations including the Shaheed Smriti Museum offered wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.
In the morning, the national flag was hoisted at half-mast in the administration building and other buildings. From 7 am, various residential halls, departments, and institutes, Rajshahi University Teachers Association, Rajshahi University Women’s Club, Progressive Teachers Society believing in the spirit and values of the Liberation War, various professional organizations and institutions including Bangabandhu Parishad, Rajshahi University School and Sheikh Russell Model School offered floral tributes at Shaheed Minar with morning ferries.
The children’s painting and handwriting competition was held at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Senate building premises at 10 am. Vice-Chancellor Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar inaugurated the competition.
The program of the day also included an Essay Competition at Rajshahi University School and Sheikh Russell Model School; Rajshahi University Teachers Association, Officers Association, Auxiliary Employees Association, General Employees Union and Transport Technical Employees Association discussion meeting; Korankhani and Monajat at Bad Zohar Central Jame Masjid and special prayers at Central Temple in the evening, cultural program at Shahid Intellectual Square at 6:30 PM.
in addition, On this day, Shaheed Smriti Museum is open for visitors from 8 am to 4 pm.
