RU Representative: Rajshahi University (RU) decided to reduce the price of food in a joint meeting of administration and campus shopkeepers. The information was confirmed by the proctor of the university Professor Asabul Haque on Sunday.

The proctor said that he sat with the shopkeepers to descuss about the complain increase the price of food in various shops inside the campus and it was decided to make a price list that is compatible through discussion.

University Student Advisor Professor Jahangir Alam Saud, Public Relations Department Administrator Professor Pradeep Kumar Pandey were present in the meeting.

According to sources in the meeting, food will be sold at the same price in all shops inside the campus. In that case, the quality of the food should be properly fixed. As per the new price list, rice (per plate) is Tk 12, khichuri Tk 20, egg (fried and cooked) Tk 15, chicken boiler (2 piece) Tk 30, Shonali chicken Tk 70, fish (per piece) Tk 30, beef Tk 100. Apart from this, the prices of singara, puri, piyaju, chop and parata have been fixed at 6 taka and milk tea 10 taka, red tea 5 taka.

Earlier, the students protested against the shopkeepers alleging price hike in the campus shops. They demanded to reduce the price of food and increase the quality. There are complaints that many shopkeepers did not follow the correct price list depending on the price of the product.

In this regard, student advisor Prof. Jahangir Alam Saud said, ‘it was decided to make a price list of food keeping in mind that there should be no shortage of shopkeepers in the campus and the students should also be satisfied. I believe both will benefit. However, after some days, if there is a complaint that the quality of the food has decreased, action will be taken against the concerned shopkeeper.
