RU Correspondent: The embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh and the Confucius Institute at North South University (NSU) organized a Happy New Year cultural program at Rajshahi University(RU) in Iblish Square today.

Ma Xiaoyan, the Chinese Director, of the Confucius Institute of North South University, and director of, the Institute of English and Other Languages, Prof. Abdullah Mamun, and Yue Liwen, the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh were present in this event.

Director, of the Institute of English and Other Languages, Prof. Abdullah Mamun, said Good afternoon, actually this program was supposed to start at 4:30, but unfortunately, our guest couldn’t make it. They went visit to Pahar Pur, but they arrived late, The vice-chancellor and our chancellor were supposed to be here in this program but they couldn’t make it because they had other appointments at that moment. Rajshahi University and behalf of the Institute of English and Other Languages, welcomed the guest from Dhaka. This program is Happy New Year of China. The guest discussed the possibilities of stabilizing an exchange program in the future at the Confucius Institute at the university. Tomorrow morning I have a meeting to discuss cooperation between Rajshai University and the institute.

Ma Xiaoyan, Chinese Director, of the Confucius Institute of North South University, said Dear faculties and students of the beautiful University of Rajshahi Assalamualaikum, and so glad to come back University of Rajshahi and see my old friends and students after six months letter. The Chinese language teaching started in July and in the meeting in July. The 10 February most important for China is a happy new year. Now 25 February letter festival we are making the end of the Chinese festival. That’s why we celebrate the counter program here.

Yue Liwen, the Cultural counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh, said ladies and gentlemen good afternoon, actually I’m very honoured and delighted to be here and attend today’s event a behalf of the Chinese embassy. This is the first time that I’m here and also this is the first time we have had some cultural events at Rajshahi University. So it’s a prestigious university I know, it’s a beautiful campus atmosphere. Also, a very beautiful sunset just now, so very good impression of your campus university very happy to be here. This event is also very significant.

Huna Yan Xin, a Chinese language teacher said, I worked here for six months. I teach the Chinese language. I’m very very happy to teach my students.
