International Mathematics Day celebrated in Rajshahi University

International Mathematics Day was celebrated by the mathematics department at Rajshahi University (RU) today.

On the occasion, a debate competition and a discussion meeting were held after the colorful procession. The event was inaugurated by Professor Nasima Akhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Science under the chairmanship of Professor Asabul Haque, President of the Department.

After inaugurating, she said, that just like the value of pi (π) is ongoing, research in mathematics is also an ongoing process. There is no end to knowing about mathematics, the more you practice with mathematics, the more new fields will be created. That is why we must contribute to the nation’s welfare by becoming competent.

Professor Asabul Haque said that out of traditional activities, various programs of Mathematics Day will create opportunities for teachers, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge among themselves and help them enrich themselves. However, care should be taken to ensure that mathematics does not become a cause of depression.

Professor Subrata Majumdar retired teacher of the department, Professor Zulfikar Ali, Treasurer of the Mathematics Association Associate Professor Mrs. Shamim Ara and others were present.
