In the academic year 2017-18 of the Law Department of Jagannath University, student Fairuz Avantika has committed suicide. The incident took place around 10 pm on March 15, 2024, at her own home in Cumilla.
When taken to Cumilla Sadar Hospital, she was declared dead there. An hour before the declaration of death, in a Facebook post, Assistant Proctor Deen Islam and 18-19 academic year Law Department student Amman Siddiqui were mentioned as the reasons for her suicide.
